Franklin, MA --- Anthony Coutts' (Millis, MA) goal in the 60th minute was the equalizer for WPI as the Engineers hit the road Tuesday afternoon and played to a 1-1 draw with host Dean in a non-conference men's soccer match played on Longley Field.

WPI, which played its second tie in as many contests, remains undefeated on the year with a 2-0-2 mark while the host Bulldogs are now 0-2-2 in 2025.

The visitors unleashed a pair of shots in the opening 80 seconds but it was Dean that netted the only goal of the first half on its first shot of the game when rookie Brody Cook (Syracuse, NY) notched his initial collegiate goal at the 8:30 mark.   The Engineers pushed to tie the game before halftime, outshooting the hosts 11-5 but had shots by Eli Marden (Shelburne, VT) and Fabio Bastida- Andreeu (Logroño Spain) hit the post in the 16th and 23rd minutes.    All five of the Bulldogs shots however were on target, with Crimson and Gray netminder Savio Ketnouvong (Paxton, MA) called on to make four stops in the opening stanza, including a great denial of a bid from Ayomide Talabi (Hamilton, NJ) at 18:59.

The second half was played with a more physical style and again it was WPI that sent the tone offensively to start the half.  Dean appeared to withstand an early push from the Engineers that featured a pair of shots and two corner kicks but the Boynton Hillers pulled even just before the hour mark when Coutts knocked in a feed from Aidan McLoughlin (Colchester, CT) at 59:38 for the tri-captains first goal of 2025 and third of this career.  Dean's Noah Amaral (Westport, MA) was outstanding in net after intermission, collecting six second half saves as WPI outshot the hosts 15-4 over the final 45 minutes, including a fine stop of a Mike Montabana (Jamison, PA) shot with just under five minutes remaining.

The guests held a 26-9 edge in shots for the game and cued up 13 of the match's 14 corners.  Ketnouvong was credited with five stops while seeing his season-opening stretch without allowing a goal snapped at 259:52. Amaral marked his fine day in net with eight stops in his first career action.

WPI returns to the field on Saturday, venturing to Northern New Jersey to face Montclair State at 1pm.  The Bulldogs are right back at it tomorrow, Wednesday at 4pm, when they make the trek to Chestnut Hill to face Division I and ACC member Boston College.
