Track & Field Closes Indoor Season at Tufts Final Qualifier and NEICAAA Championships
Boston and Medford, MA --- The WPI track and field team wrapped up the 2025 indoor season a pair of All-New England performances at the 2025 NEICAAA Indoor Championships this weekend. Several Engineers also had solid performances at the Tufts National Qualifier.
Sophomores Ethan Anderson (North Haven, CT) and Gabriel D'Amour (Somers, CT) both earned All-NEICAAA honors with strong performances at the Reggie Lewis Track Center in Boston. In the weight throw, Anderson recorded a toss of 16.97m (55-8.25), the third-best distance in WPI history, good for fifth place. D'Amour also took fifth overall, running a new personal best time of 50.00 in the 400m.
Sophomore Sam Manteria (Wilbraham, MA) ran a 7.09 in the 60m dash prelims, good for 11th overall, while classmate Ajay Bellamy (Stratford, CT) was 21st in 7.31. Sophomore Daniel Kim (Orange, CT) finished 13th overall in the 60m hurdle preliminaries, running a time of 8.86 seconds.
Freshmen Rayna Thompson (Brentwood, NH) and freshman Ethan Schnyer (Nashua, NH)
each wrapped up their first collegiate indoor seasons with 12th place finishes in the 200m dash preliminaries. Thompson ran a 26.03 on the women's side, while Schnyer clocked in at 22.63 in the men's event.
At Tufts, graduate-student Avinash Bissoondial (Millbury, MA) ran a new personal best in the 3000m, going 8:21.46, and finishing second overall.
Anderson nabbed fourth place in the weight throw with a best throw of 15.40m (50-06.25) and fourth in the shot put 14.27m (46-10.00) where sophomore Michael Zuo (Worcester, MA) took seventh with a 13.74m (45-01.00).
Senior Matthew Catuccio (Trumbull, CT) finished in a tie for seventh in the high jump, with a best leap of 1.93m (6-04.00)
Rounding out the Tufts competitors, the distance medley relay team of junior Brinson Wyche (Corvallis, MT), graduate-student Tristan Andrew (Newtown, CT), junior Everett Mosher (Chester, VT), and Bissoondial finished 10th overall in a time of 10.12.90.
WPI now looks ahead to the outdoor season, which will begin on Saturday, March 29 at 11:00 AM at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic.
