Baseball’s Brown Selected as NEWMAC Pitcher of the Week
NEWMAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week - D.C. Brown
Marlboro, MA --- WPI freshman D.C. Brown (Plymouth, MA) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on March 9th.
Joining Brown was Wheaton's Robbie Lamond who was selected as the conference's Athlete of the Week.
Brown was masterful in this collegiate debut, tossing first five innings of WPI's no-hitter versus Penn College is Sunday's second game of the Engineers' spring break trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The lefthander tallied nine strikeouts and walked just three en route to picking up his first college victory and the Crimson and Gray's first win of the season. The rookie faced just one over the minimum before handing the ball over to graduate student Brian Riley (Portland, ME) for the sixth and freshman classmate Kaiden Williams(Aurora, IL) for the seventh to finish off the 10-1 triumph anchored by catcher Matt Shea (Andover, MA).
This week's honor is the first career weekly nod for Brown and first of the 2025 stint for the Crimson and Gray.
WPI (1-2) was slated to face Penn State-Berks today, but the contest has been cancelled due to rain in the Myrtle Beach, South Carolina area. WPI will explore making up this game or adding a new contest later this week. Engineers are back in action on Tuesday at 2pm versus Ursinus (PA).
