The SOAR series features panel discussions that highlight several funding opportunities, with faculty members who have successfully secured research funding sharing their experiences along with representatives from the funding agencies. The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC) serves as a global hub for the life sciences ecosystem, driving innovation through strategic investments, strengthening Massachusetts’ leadership in the sector, accelerating commercialization of treatments and cures, and advancing job creation, economic growth, and STEM workforce development.Carla Reimold, Ph.D. – Executive Vice President of Scientific Innovation and Strategic Investments (MLSC). She develops and manages the investment strategy for several initiatives in order to support the needs of the Commonwealth’s life sciences ecosystem. She holds degrees in biological and agricultural engineering (LSU) and biomedical engineering (NC State/UNC).Audrey Medeiros, Ph.D. – Program Manager of the Scientific Innovation and Strategic Investments team, including ARC (Accelerating Research through Collaboration) and Research Infrastructure. She manages life science investment programs to drive scientific innovation, growth, and collaboration across public, private, and non-profit sectors. Christina Bailey-Hytholt, Ph.D. – Chemical and biomedical engineer (WPI) whose research in biomaterials and drug/gene delivery focuses on developing placental models and designing lipid-based therapeutics to advance women’s health.Eric Young, Ph.D. – Biological and chemical engineer (WPI) whose research in synthetic biology focuses on reprogramming yeasts, bacteria, and fungi to produce valuable molecules through engineered metabolism.Registration: Registration is required for this event.
