Powerful Equipment at WPI to Spot Cyber Threats

Researchers at WPI are using a powerful microscope to analyze semiconductors and spot cybersecurity threats to computer hardware. The Phemos-X microscope is an emission and laser-scanning microscope that enables researchers to view transistors, inspect structures on a computer chip, and analyze signals, all with a goal of improving the security of integrated circuits. Shahin Tajik and Fatemeh Ganji are two of the faculty members in the WPI Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering who are conducting leading-edge research in WPI’s cybersecurity facilities.
