College Sports Communicators Academic All-District - WPI Men's Track & Field and Cross Country
WORCESTER — WPI Men's Track & Field and Cross Country continues its tradition of excellence in competition and in the classroom, placing five Engineers on the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field/Cross Country College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as announced recently.
Graduate student Avinash Bissoondial (Millbury, MA) headlines the group with his second consecutive Academic All-District honor, joined by first-time selections Tristan Andrew (Newtown, CT), Everett Mosher (Chester, VT), Matt Richards (Peabody, MA), and Sam Manteria (Wilbraham, MA).
Bissoondial capped a remarkable year by earning First Team All-America honors in the 5,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, placing eighth nationally. He claimed conference titles in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meters and holds school records in the outdoor 5,000 meters (14:09.22) and indoor mile (4:11.61). A two-time NCAA Cross Country qualifier, Bissoondial placed third at the NCAA East Region Championship and 60th at nationals last fall. The Data Science graduate student carries a perfect 4.00 GPA and has earned NEWMAC All-Academic honors seven times across cross country and track & field.
Andrew, a graduate student sprinter, turned in elite performances with a 22.36 indoor 200 meters (12th East Region) and an impressive third-place regional mark outdoors at 21.50. The Mechanical Engineering standout maintains a 4.00 graduate GPA alongside a 3.87 undergraduate GPA.
Mosher, a junior middle-distance runner, recorded a 1:52.75 outdoor 800 meters for 14th in the East Region and also posted a 1:55.47 indoors for 14th regionally. He contributed to WPI's strong showing in cross country and holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in Civil Engineering.
Richards, a sophomore javelin thrower, claimed a spot on the podium and collected points for the Crimson and Gray at the 2025 NEWMAC Championships with a third-place finish in the javelin after sticking a 55.99-meter mark. Richards later launched a personal-best 60.41 meters to rank seventh in the East Region and 28th nationally. The Civil Engineering major holds a 3.72 GPA.
Manteria, a sophomore sprinter, earned regional rankings in three events: 7.02 in the indoor 60 meters (17th East), 10.73 in the outdoor 100 meters (12th), and 22.01 in the 200 meters (21st). He sports a 3.80 GPA in Chemical Engineering.
Andrew and Manteria helped the Engineers' 4x100 relay team to a 2025 NEWMAC Championship title as the foursome clocked in a 40.94 time for the facility record and program record that stood at 15th in NCAA Division III. The duo of Andrew and Manteria later posted a 41.18 time and placed 12th overall to earn second team All-America status from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The 2025 Academic All-District Men's Track & Field teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the track, in the field, and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America program separately honors men's track & field student-athletes in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Finalists will be voted on by CSC members, with First-, Second-, and Third-Team Academic All-America honorees to be announced July 16, 2025 for men's programs.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially supported by NCAA governance structures to help College Sports Communicators handle the awards fulfillment for the 2024-25 Academic All-America programs.
